Please be aware that the BLM has closed the Sloan Canyon Visitor Station. The parking lot is still open during regular operating hours.
Access to Sloan Canyon Petroglyph Trail (#100), the Cowboy Trail (#200), the Hidden Vally Trail (#300) to the south part of Sloan Canyon, the #101 Connector Trail to Park Peak and the Shadow Canyon Trailhead. This is a controlled access area, and hikers are required to check-in at the Visitor Station. There is also porta potty just outside the Visitor Station.
Nawghaw Poa Road, which leads to the Visitor Station, is controlled by a gate. The road closes at the same schedule as the Visitor Station. The Visitor Station schedule changes seasonally. During the summer (June to September) hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the rest of the year (October through May) the Visitor Station is open every day from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Call (702) 515-5350 to confirm that the road is open. You can access the Sloan Canyon trails when the Visitor Station is closed, but you will not be able to access Nawghaw Poa Road. During these times you can park on Democracy Drive and hike the .6 mile to the trailhead.
No pets are allowed in the wilderness that surrounds the petroglyph site. In all other areas of the Sloan National Conservation Area pets must be leashed and under control at all times.
Getting to the Sloan Canyon Visitor Station
The main trailhead is via the Sloan Canyon Visitor’s Center on Nawghaw Poa Road, which is south off of Democracy Drive, west of Via Firenze, and south of the Inspirada community in Henderson, Nevada.
